Connecticut firm Trinamic Technologies just came up with what they call the DREAD gun. It is a machine gun from the future which uses centrifugal force. According to the company the weapon can fire 120,000 rounds per second. The best part is that it doesn’t have any recoil or muzzle flash. There’s pretty intense video of prototype being tested. Trinamic is pitching it for use on satellite platforms rather than it being something people carry around with them.
Thunder generators
The Israeli military uses this weapon for crowd control. This non-lethal weapon was originally developed to be deployed in fields of grain to scare the birds away birds. Later thunder generator found it’s way into crowd control. It uses a pulse detonation to release high-velocity shockwaves into the air by funneling an explosion into a huge, resonant barrel. At a close proximity of 100ft the waves are strong enough to knock back a person and temporarily deafen them. Anyone who’s closer than 10ft will die a gruesome and painful death.
Drone-blasting lasers
The ultimate sci-fi warfare dreams are made of weaponized laser. Till now we used amplified light to mark conventional munitions and identify target, which is not so fancy. The technology needed to create lasers are getting cheaper. There are powerful lasers being deployed in the battlefield due to this. The project Boeing Laser Avenger is in-development, when ready, would deploy a one kilowatt solid-state beam which will scorch their enemy to crisp. It has been tested succesfully on drones. They also intend to detonate explosives from a distance.
Tracking bullets
DARPA came up with hi-tech bullet which can be made to adjust their course in mid-air. This was developed under Exacto program. The 50 caliber bullet with the help of inbound computer guidance systems can shift the small fins on the .
bullet’s surface to allow it to make course corrections during flight. Ot can also take the environmental factors into account and makes the required changes. The bullets are accurate enough to even work on moving targets. You wouldn’t wanna be in its path when it comes gliding across.
Powered exoskeletons
Recently a Lockheed Martin project’s success is brought soldiers one step closer to being Iron Man. It’s called the The Human Universal Load Carrier project, which built a mechanized exoskeleton for soldiers to wear in the field. It consist of mechanized leg braces made with titanium that allows the wearers to carry loads up to 200 pounds without any fatigue. There is an onboard computer which monitors movements and the level of load and it also keeps the frame in sync with the wearer.
Quantum camouflage
Optical camouflage has been used for ages. But with the advancement of science a new technology has emerged. Finally a breakthrough in the bending of light rays around objects by scientist made the new tech possible. The quantum camouflage is a high-tech optical concealment system. There has been at least one claim that the technology has been perfected. The cloak requires no power to operate. It just uses array of smaller antennae to bend light around the object.
Plasma force fields
Since now we have newer bullets , we need new forms of armor too. Boeing has recently received a patent which could create a plasma forcefield that could repel or absorb the shockwaves coming from an explosives. The technology behind it uses microwave radiation, electricity and lasers to created a superheated area in the way of the shockwave of the explosion. This then absorbs the energy released by the explosion.
